About CLT Health Scores
CLT Health Scores makes Mecklenburg County health inspection results easy to search on any device: restaurants, food trucks and stands, school cafeterias, hospitals, nursing homes, child care centers, pools, tattoo studios, hotels and more.
Where the data comes from
All scores, grades and violations come from the Mecklenburg County Public Health – Environmental Health public inspection portal. We check for new inspections every night. Results can lag the county's own records by a day or more, and older inspections are still being imported, so some show “details not yet loaded”.
How scores work
- Food service (restaurants, food trucks, stands, school lunchrooms, meat markets…): 100-point scale with letter grades: A 90–100, B 80–89.5, C 70–79.5.
- Hospitals, nursing homes, school buildings, lodging: 100-point scale, no letter grade.
- Child care, residential care, pools & spas, jails: scored in demerits; lower is better.
- Tattoo artists: inspected, no numeric score published.
Location privacy
The Near me feature asks for your location only when you tap the button, and your browser lets you say no. Your location (or the ZIP code or address you type) is used only to find nearby places for that request: we don't store it, put it in our logs, or share it, and we don't track where you go. Place locations on the map come from the addresses in the county's records, matched with the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder and OpenStreetMap. Maps are provided by OpenStreetMap or Google Maps, which receive the map area you view, as with any online map.
